We invite you to join this excellent service club, which is a member of Kiwanis International. We support many organizations and community improvement efforts in Bandera County, Texas. We strive to serve the children of the world through the efforts of Kiwanis International and its Texas-Oklahoma District, especially the Eliminate Project to rid the world of maternal/neonatal tetanus. We participate in fundraising events such as the Texas Hill Country Musicfest, with funds going to our 501(c)3 Kiwanis Community Service Corp. for projects such as scholarships for Bandera High School graduating seniors.
Each spring, we give away boy’s and girls bikes at Alkek and Hill Country Elementary Schools at the culmination of the Bringing Up Grades (BUG) program for third graders.
Bandera Kiwanis awarded four plaques across the district to Bandera Independent School District students selected as the Hope for America Award winning students. These 2017 presentations were the first in what promises to be an annual tradition. To be selected, students had to be outstanding scholars, be exceptional in all other areas and exhibit characteristics of leadership. To be eligible for the Hope for America Award, students had to be in fifth grade, eighth grade or ninth grade.
Feel free to visit us on the first or third Thursday of the month at noon at Pap’s Italian Grill, 632 State Highway 16 S, Bandera, TX. This is a new meeting venue, effective May 9, 2017. We have moved from Bandera Nursing & Rehab Center, 222 FM 1077, Bandera.
